Barça U19’s unbeaten run is over. Their first defeat of the season in all competitions came in the UEFA Youth League against Club Brugge, who remain undefeated in Europe. Goals from Jensen and Van Bristom were enough to derail the Catalans, who until now had won every game in both Europe and the league, except for one draw. Despite dominating much of the match and creating more chances, they suffered their first setback of the season.

Control without reward

Barça started brightly at The Nest, with Uri Pallàs and Guillem Víctor threatening early on. But against the run of play, Jensen struck in the 16th minute to give the home side the lead. The Belgians’ clinical finishing contrasted with Barça’s missed opportunities as Pallàs, Sama Nomoko and Pol Bernabeu all went close but not close enough before halftime. The hosts defended solidly, maintaining their European clean sheet.

In the second half, Pol Planas’ side kept pressing with patient possession. Pallàs nearly equalised, but his effort was cleared off the line by Brugge’s resilient defence.

Fighting to the end

The visitors kept pushing, but the Belgian back line grew in confidence and space became harder to find. Barça’s tempo slowed and goalkeeper Vanden Driessche had little to do after the break. In the final minutes, Van Bristom punished a defensive error to seal the win. Hopefully the seniors will fare better when they face the same side later on the same day.
