Four golden blaugrana goalscorers

Four golden blaugrana goalscorers

Alexia Putellas joins Leo Messi, Jonathan Soriano and Sergio Lozano as a top scorer in FC Barcelona's history

Alexia Putellas Segura. Lionel Andrés Messi Cuccittini. Jonathan Soriano Casas. Sergio Lozano Martínez. These four Barça players are top scorers in FC Barcelona's football history. The current Barça Women captain joins the quartet after the two-time Balón d'Or winner became the highest goalscorer for the women's team on 15 October. She joins a roll call including the seven time Balón d'Or award winner in men's football, Soriano from Barça Atlètic, and Sergio Lozano from the futsal team.

Alexia, 182 goals

Barça's captain wrote her name in history during the blaugrana win against Atlético Madrid. Alexia is true icon of the women's football team since she joined the Club in 2012. Most probably didn't think she would strike gold wearing the blaugrana jersey at the tender age of 18 years old. Her goalscoring ability from midfield allowed her to make great strides on the way to smashing records, and she has now entered the record books.

Not only is she the highest goalscorer in history for the women's side, she also scored the first goal at both the Estadi Johan Cruyff and the Spotify Camp Nou in the modern era. Goalscoring exploits and milestones that helped her to achieve both team and individual honours. Alexia Putellas has won two Champions Leagues, seven Liga titles, six Copas de la Reina and three Spanish Super Cups, while also winning two Balón d'Ors to boot. Something only she has been able to achieve to date.

Leo Messi, 672 goals

Any description of the Argentinian's goalscoring will always fall short. There are no more superlatives to rate the legendary number's 10 quality highly enough. Leo Messi is the record breaker in FC Barcelona's history. He arrived at La Masia aged 13 years old and made an impact from day one. His debut for the first team saw him set out on a course that would change the blaugranas' collective memory.

He became the highest goalscorer for the first team aged just 24 years old during the 2011/12 season when Barça played Granada. That magical day saw him equal and surpass César's record with a hat-trick. Camp Nou gave the Argentinian another wonderful ovation that day and Messi just kept on scoring for the following nine seasons in all competitions and in every possible manner until he reached 672 goals. His record extends beyond just goals, however, as he has played the most games, won the most trophies, and won the most Balón d'Or awards in the almost 124 years of the Club's history.

Jonathan Soriano, 59 goals

The Catalan forward made history with the development side. He was a goalscoring machine from 2009 to 2012 with Barça Atlètic. A penalty box assassin who still has the record for most goals scored to be included on this select list.

Sergio Lozano, 328 goals

A competitive spirit like no other. Considered one of the world's best players, he has power, desire and goalscoring in his locker, characteristics that propelled him into this unrivalled quartet. Sergio Lozano has scored 329 goals since he joined the Club in summer 2010 and remains set to add his total and extend his lead at the top of the futsal goalscoring charts.
