First trophy for new-look Barça basketball team
The new-look Barça basketball team for the 2026/27 season have won their first trophy. With a new coach and eleven new signings, the team have won the first title up for grabs after overcoming iLERNA Lleida in the final in Tarragona.
This is the first success under Aleksander Sekulic as coach and Xevi Pujol as sporting director. The eleven new players, along with Parra, Brizuela, Núñez and Punter, have all really worked hard to adapt to the new playing style and come away with their first trophy.
26th Catalan League and 104th title
This is the team's 26th Catalan League title and the fourth this decade after winning in 2022, 2023 and 2024. The team was founded on 24 August 1926 and they have won 104 titles in that 100 year period, which includes the first league title in 1947 that the Spanish Federation doesn't officially recognise.
Super Cup the next challenge
The Spanish Super Cup is the next challenge ahead after the Catalan League success. The team are set to play the semifinal in Badalona against Valencia Basket (19 September 9.00pm CEST). A win would see them through to a final against Asisa Joventut or Kosner Baskonia on 20 September (7.00pm CEST) .
