The Barça guests thoroughly enjoyed the performance by local students | FCB

Before today’s game between Celtic and Barça, the directors of the two clubs enjoyed a lunch organised by UEFA in a restaurant close to the hotel where the Catalans are staying.

FCB was represented at the event by vice-president Manel Arroyo, the commissioner for Espai Barça Jordi Moix and directors Silvio Elías, Pau Vilanova and Xavier Vilajoana.

And there was an unexpected surprise for them before the meal was served, when the choir from Dalmarnock Primary School performed the Barça anthem! Accompanied by a piano, the children were heartily applauded by the dinner guests, after which students from Glasgow Caledonian University performed a powerful duet of ‘Barcelona’, the operatic song recorded by Montserrat Caballé and the late frontman of Queen, Freddie Mercury before the 1992 Olympic Games in the city.

The event was arranged by the Celtic FC Foundation, which works in support of some of the least privileged districts of Glasgow. The choir is currently working in aid of refugees, some of whom were among the singers today. FC Barcelona, in collaboration with the Celtic Foundation, is now working to arrange for these children to come and see a game at the Camp Nou.

Once the music was over, the FC Barcelona directors took some time to distribute pins and take pictures with the youngsters.
