HIGHLIGHTS: Barça v Alavés

LaLiga is under way. Barça and Alavés met in the first game of the campaing at Camp Nou and a brace from Messi and a strike from Coutinho handed Ernesto Valverde an opening weekend victory. 

The visitors were stubborn opposition but Messi's opening strike prised apart the Alavés defence and also marked goal number 6,000 in the league for FC Barcelona.
