Leo Messi just keeps breaking records.
Tonight he equalled the great Xavi Hernández by appearing in his 32nd edition of the Barcelona derby with city rivals RCD Espanyol.
Sergio Busquets (25) and Gerard Piqué (24) are next on the list, and also featured in tonight’s astonishing 4-0 performance that stretches what was already the blaugrana’s longest ever unbeaten run in La Liga against the ‘parakeets’ to 19 games.
23 goals in 32 games
It was against Espanyol that the Argentinian made his competitive debut for Barça, way back in 2004/05 when he was just 17 years old and came on as a replacement for Deco.
Since then he has netted 23 goals against the blue-and-whites, including two fabulous free-kicks in tonight’s game.
