Another player from La Masia debuted this Wednesday with the first team. Riqui Puig made his first official appearance in the 56th minute of the return leg of the Copa del Rey round of 32, in which Barça beat Cultural Leonesa, 4-1.
Puig arrived at Barça at the age of 14 from Jàbac-Terrassa. The 19-year-old midfielder played very well in his 35 minutes on the field. He even rounded off his debut with a stellar assist to Denis Suárez on Barça's fourth and final goal of the evening.
A central midfielder, Puig reached Barça B at the age of 18. Last year, he helped the Under-19 team win the UEFA Youth League. This season, Puig went on the summer tour in the United States, getting playing time in the team's friendlies there. He has also been a regular at Barça's first team training sessions, and, on Wednesday, he finally got into an official match.
