A battling comeback from Barça Atlètic. The blaugrana reserves came from behind to beat CD Tudelano 2-1 at the Estadio Municipal Ciudad de Tudela on matchday five of the Segunda Federación. Goals from Àlex Campos and Àlex González earned three important points for Belletti’s side, who remain top of Group 2.
Barça had an early warning when Tudelano won the ball close to the visitors’ area, although Quer had the first clear chance at the other end, hitting the post after good work from Landry Ferrer in the sixth minute. The reserves struggled to take control, however, and Iker Rodríguez produced a fine save from David Soto’s header midway through the half.
Tudelano take the lead
Shane Kluivert almost put Barça ahead, only to see his effort cleared off the line, before Soto headed the home side in front in the 33rd minute. Barça Atlètic went into the break 1-0 down after an uncomfortable first half in which they had struggled to play out from the back.
The pattern initially continued after the restart, with few chances for either side. But in the 63rd minute Àlex Campos levelled from a corner to bring Barça back into the contest.
Turnaround
The decisive goal arrived on 76 minutes. Guillem Victor delivered an excellent cross to the far post and Àlex González was there to make it 2-1.
Barça grew in confidence after taking the lead and could have added a third, with Quer hitting the crossbar and Aziz denied by goalkeeper Iván Fernández.
Belletti’s side comfortably saw out the closing stages, during which Tudelano were reduced to ten men, to secure another three points and remain top of the group.
Barça Atlètic are next in action on Saturday 10 October at 4pm CEST, when they host SD Logroñés at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
