Agreement reached between FC Barcelona and Stuttgart for the loan of midfielder Mirza Catovic until 30 June 2027, which includes a purchase option. 

His addition means Barça Atlètic can count on the services of a young promising midfielder with professional football experience in Germany, who now starts a new phase of his career in blaugrana.

Midfielder with room to develop

Born in Tutin (Serbia) on 1 May 2007, Catovic began at Rot-Weiss Frankfurt before joining the Stuttgart the youth system in 2022. The German side developed him through the U-17 and U19 levels, before he moved to the second team, making his debut in the 3. Liga in December 2024.

The new Barça Atlètic player is a defensive midfielder, left-footed and physically strong, and stands out for his ability to keep the game moving and for showing assurance on the ball. His reading of the game and ability to take up positions in space mean he can operate at the base of midfield and in other midfield and defensive line positions.

During the 2025/26 season, Catovic was a regular in Stuttgart's second team in 3. Liga, making 29 appearances. At the same time, he continued developing with the U-19s, winning the U-19s German Cup.

A youth international with Germany, Catovic has been called up for the U-18s and U-19s, with whom he played in the U-19 European Championship in 2026.
