Xavi Espart first team squad member with the number '12' jersey
The FC Barcelona first team squad has a new member: Xavi Espart. Following an excellent preseason and a highly promising performance against Elche in the Martínez Valero stadium, the versatile youngster who can play as full back or in midfield takes another step forward in his career and takes the number '12' jersey.
The '12' jersey has been vacant since the 2021/22 season with the last player to wear the number being Danish striker Martin Braithwaite.
Braithwaite and also La Masia
Before the forward the number was worn by La Masia products Riqui Puig, Rafinha Alcántara and Jonathan dos Santos. Two notable predecessors also come in the form of left backs: Sergi Barjuan formed part of the 'Dream Team' wearing '12' and Gio van Bronckhurst wore the number in Barça's Champions League win over Arsenal in Paris in 2006. Now, it is the turn of Xavi Espart.
