Barça are European Champions again after a 37-34 win in the Handball Final Four showdown against Füsche Berlin. The blaugranes dominated the final in Cologne from start to finish to claim a 50th trophy in top competition in Europe for the FC Barcelona's professional teams.

Impeccable in attack and defence

Carlos Ortega's team began the game switched on from the start and with the help of a brilliant Emil Nielsen in goal, the blaugranes moved into an 8-5 lead with 10 minutes gone. The Germans, playing in their home country, came back to reduce the lead to just one goal. A save from Nielsen again kept Barça in front and Ortega's team reacted to move into a five goal lead at 14-9.

Aleix Goméz scored his 100th goal in the Final Four, the first player ever to do so, to help Barça to a four goal lead at 20-16 at half time.

Nielsen spectacular

The second half started with Berlin trying to reverse Barça's momentum. After cutting it back to 20-18, Barça stepped on the gas again to make 25-19 with Nielsen again making several important saves.

Halfway through the second half Barça were hit by a red card for Ludovic Fabregas and Füsche came to within two goals at 32-30 with seven minutes left. A red card for Berlin's Max Darj saw balance restored and the blaugranes gathered strength for the closing minutes.
