Another Barça player is heading to the 2026 World Cup. Ronald Araújo has been called up by Uruguay for this summer’s international tournament. Marcelo Bielsa has included him in his 26-man squad as they prepare for a competition that gets underway on 11 June.
It will be the defender’s second World Cup. He was also included in Uruguay’s squad for the previous edition, but did not play a single minute after arriving at the tournament carrying an injury. As a result, the Barça number 4 will be hoping to make his World Cup debut in this latest edition of one of international football’s most prestigious tournaments.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been drawn in Group H alongside Saudi Arabia, Cape Verde and Spain, whose squad includes eight Barça players. There will therefore be a blaugrana clash in the group stage of the tournament, which is being held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
