The countdown is on and now every league game is a chance to moving closer and closer to a 29th league title for FC Barcelona. That is the mindset with which the blaugranes travel to Getafe this weekend where on Saturday they take on José Bordalás' team at the Coliseum, kick off 4.15pm CEST, the aim being to further extend their lead on second placed Real Madrid, who could only draw at Real Betis on Friday night.

Barça went into the weekend's fixture with an already immense nine-point lead on the all-whites, while victory today would open up the gap to eleven. With a lead like that, it would take something extraordinary to prevent the Catalans from going on to claim the crown, with just five games to go.

Run to continue 

The blaugranes are in great form in La Liga after recording eight successive wins and will be looking to make it nine against Getate in the Coliseum stadium. However, it will not be easy for Hansi Flick's team as they are without Lamine Yamal for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury picked up in the win over Celta on Wednesday. Also missing will be Eric Garcia as he serves a one game ban. 

Getafe looking for European Football next season 

Whilst Barça have eyes on another La Liga title, Saturday's opponents Getafe also have objectives of their own coming into the game. José Bordalás' team are in sixth place in the table and are on course for a return to European competition for the first time since the 2019/20 season. 

Midfielder Luis Milla, son of former Barça player Luis Milla Sr, is the fulcrum of the side and has already provided the team with nine assists so far this season. 

To win again in the Coliseum

On Saturday Barça will be looking for their first win at Getafe since the 2019/20 season when goals from Luis Suárez and Junior Firpo gave them a 2-0 under coach Ernesto Valverde. Since then the teams have played out four successive draws, three of them goalless, with a goal from Jules Kounde giving Hansi Flick's side a point from a 1-1 draw in this fixture last season.
