FC Barcelona are through to the Champions League semi-finals once again. After the 6-2 first-leg win, Pere Romeu’s side finished the job at Spotify Camp Nou in a gala atmosphere to book another place in the last four. It will be the eighth time the blaugranes have reached the semi-finals, every one of them consecutively.
Five wins in a row
Barça feel at home at this stage. Of the seven semi-finals they have played in recent years, they have progressed from six ... Five of them in a row.
They have reached the final every season since 2020/21, when they knocked out PSG (1–1, 2–1) and went on to lift their first continental title. A year later, they eliminated Wolfsburg (5–1, 2–0) in the penultimate round.
Since then, it has been a one-sided story against Chelsea. Over three consecutive seasons, the blaugranes have seen off the English side in the semi-finals: 0–1 and 1–1 in 2022/23, 0–1 and 0–2 in 2023/24, and 4–1 and 1–4 last season—the most dominant of all.
First semi in 2019
Before that run, Barça reached their first semi-final in 2018/19 against Bayern (0–1, 1–0), advancing to their first-ever final. A year later came their only semi-final defeat to date, a single-leg loss to Wolfsburg (1–0) in the pandemic-affected 2019/20 season.
