With a place in the Copa del Rey semi-finals already secured, Barça now turn their focus back to La Liga, determined to stay top for another week. Standing in their way are Jagoba Arrasate’s Mallorca and their main threat, Vedat Muriqi, the league’s second-highest scorer with 15 goals.
Hansi Flick was upbeat ahead of the clash. “I’m happy with our style,” he said. “We have to be more focused when finishing our chances, but the team is in a good moment.”
Lamine Yamal and Fermín flying
Flick reserved special praise for Lamine Yamal. “The most important thing is that he enjoys himself. And that’s something we have to help him with,” he said. “You can see it in his performances. He’s scoring more goals, and he still has even more potential.”
He was just as positive about Fermín Lopez, who signed a contract extension until 2031 shortly after the press conference. “Fermín loves Barça. He has talent, intensity, and he’s playing at his highest level. I’m very happy for him and for the club. It’s a fantastic decision.”
Leaders on the pitch
Flick also highlighted Frenkie de Jong’s influence. “He’s fantastic on the ball, and he’s grown as a leader, which is normal with his age and experience. He feels very comfortable in Barcelona. He loves the club and the city.”
Raphinha remains unavailable, but Flick pointed to the importance of players like Lewandowski and Araújo before reflecting on his relationship with the squad. “It’s about the atmosphere” he said. “Sometimes they see me more as a grandfather than a father because of my age.
Then he made his philosophy clear: “What matters is that players give everything they have. When the atmosphere is good, you work better, you’re more motivated to give more."
“In six days we play three matches, but I see the players in a great environment and that’s what I value. Respect between coach and players, and between players and coach. That’s how you get the best level from everyone.”
