If Barça have shown anything in the 2025/26 season, it is an impressive ability to overturn adverse results. The obvious area for improvement is not having to fight back so often to win matches, but Hansi Flick’s side have turned comebacks into almost a routine. In Prague, against Slavia, they completed their first comeback of 2026 .

In the 10th minute, a corner conceded led to Kusej’s goal, forcing the blaugrana to come from behind if they wanted to claim three crucial points in the race for the Champions League top eight. And they did so again, though not in the quickest of manners. Although Fermín’s brace had already turned the scoreline around by the 42nd minute, two minutes later an own goal by Lewandowski sent the teams into the break level.

After the interval, a superb strike from Dani Olmo and a late clincher from Lewandowski (this time at the right end) sealed the win at the Eden Arena. It was yet another demonstration of Barça’s resilience in the face of adversity. It was the eighth time this season that the team have gone on to win a match they had started by losing. In other words, 24 points recovered, more than any other team across Europe’s major leagues through comebacks.

Two in the Champions League; six in La Liga

The Prague win was Barça's second comeback in the Champions League, after the one against Eintracht, who had taken the lead at the Spotify Camp Nou before Barça won 2–1. In La Liga, the victims have been Levante, Oviedo and Betis, all away from home, as well as Real Sociedad at Montjuïc, and Alavés and Atlético Madrid at the new Spotify Camp Nou.

Hansi Flick does not hide the fact, whenever he is asked, that one area for improvement is defensive solidity and keeping clean sheets. But until that stability is achieved, the German coach has built a team that takes blows with an iron jaw.
