Today, Tuesday 20 March, Lucien Müller passed away at the age of 91 years old. Born in Bischwiller on 3 September 1934, he defended the FC Barcelona colours as both player and coach.
He joined the Club from Real Madrid in 1965. Playing in a central midfield role, he spent three years as a Barça first team player. During his 125 appearances he scored five goals and won a Fairs Cup and a Copa del Rey. He left FC Barcelona to sign for Burgos for the 1967/68 season.
Ten years later he returned to FC Barcelona, this time as first team coach for the 1978/79 season when Josep Lluís Núñez was president. Previous seasons with other Spanish first division sides had gone very well for Müller, but fortune did not smile on him during his time as coach and he was replaced by his assistant Joaquim Rifé before the end of the season.
