Eric Garcia is one of the go to guys for FC Barcelona. The Catalan has become a regular in Hansi Flick's side due to being able to play well in different positions and he is becoming one of the standout players of the season. Making the most of the time in Yeddah after going through to Spanish Super Cup final at Athletic Club's expense after a great team performance (5-0), Eric sat down to spend some time with FC Barcelona fans from around the world.

During an exclusive live on the FC Barcelona YouTube channel, Eric answered member questions from the fans in the community on the platform. He explained that the team are “very happy after the great game against Athletic”, but he wanted to emphasise that the next target is now in their sights, stating “We are in the final now. We are going to give it our all and go for the trophy”.

Regarding what lifting the Super Cup would mean, the defender highlighted the importance of the trophy at this point of the season, expressing that “Winning would mean for us what it meant last season. We are in January, we are getting closer, and it would give us more confidence. There is a very tough schedule ahead and coming back with the trophy gives you more motivation”. He couldn't have been clearer in that sense by stating “Winning trophies motivates me most. This is Barça and we 'have to win' here”.

In the sporting domain, Eric also spoke about the consistency of the team and his own versatility. “The game against Espanyol wasn't very good, but we are back on it”, he assured. On an individual level, he spoke positively about playing in different positions, stating “I am playing in many different positions and they all come with their issues. However, I like and feel at ease in them all”.

Eric also looked back to some special moments last season and decided on one game in particular, stating “Picking just one is difficult, but it would have to be the LaLiga Clásico at home. We came off the back of the loss against Inter and that comeback win was very special”. On a personal level, he highlighted how well he gets on with several teammates, stating “I spend a lot of time with Ferran, Pedri, Dani Olmo, Joan and Fermín”, and he had some words of praise for the keeper, saying “It is really nice to have my friend Joan Garcia as the keeper. He makes saves that surprise even us”.

Lastly, he wanted to highlight the figure of Hansi Flick, stating “I would highlight how close the 'mister' is to the players. He is always available to speak with you, whether you have something on your mind or if you are feeling OK. That is very important”.

Eric Garcia is the fourth blaugrana to join us on YouTube. Marcus Rashford was the first and he was followed by live streams featuring the Barça Women captain Alexia Putellas and the Barça men's team keeper Wojciech Szczęsny.
