Barça finished off their preparations on Friday at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper for Saturday's Catalan derby against Espanyol, kick off 9pm CET. This season Barcelona's city rivals are having an excellent campaign in La Liga sitting in fifth place in the table on 33 points, 13 behind leaders FC Barcelona. 

In their fifth training session of the week so far, the blaugrana squad got to work with the absences of the injured Gavi and Andreas Christensen. Winger Roony Bardghji worked out in the gym but is still in the running for a place in the squad for the game against Espanyol. 

The city derby is the first fixture of a demanding month with the Spanish Super Cup title at stake. Hansi Flick's team will be looking to kick off 2026 with a win to retain their lead in the table and take the spoils in the local derby.
