Hansi Flick was clearly very pleased after Barça’s victory over Betis, highlighting the team’s solidity and commitment, especially in the first half, emphasising that the side showed character and quality to win a very challenging encounter.
“The first half was very good" said the German. "We came from behind to equalise and I loved the way we played. In the second half, towards the end, we were already more tired. The players gave everything for the club, for the fans, for the badge.”
He downplayed the scrappy final minutes: “I want to stay positive about this match. Of course we’ll analyse everything, but the most important thing is that we won, and that’s what counts.”
“Scoring two goals so quickly is always very important. It’s not easy against a team like this; they have so much quality. They play very well and have fantastic players.”
He also had positive words for Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres: “I thought Lamine did well, also defensively. It was very positive. Ferran is a very intelligent player. He reads space extremely well and today he did it brilliantly. The most important thing for a forward is confidence, and Ferran is convinced he’s good enough to be a starter for us. He was fantastic again and I’m very happy with him.”
Flick also underlined the team’s ability to adapt to different situations: “Before the match I asked Lamine if he could play as an attacking midfielder, and he said yes. Roony also deserved to start, and he had a great game.”
