It's a dream that every FC Barcelona fan would like to fulfil themselves. Fermín López will likely always remember 22 November 2025, as the La Masia midfielder reached 100 appearances in the FC Barcelona jersey on the date of the return to the Spotify Camp Nou. It's especially a moment to remember for the blaugrana number 16, as he had never played in the stadium before.

This first time was special. He was able to celebrate his century on the pitch as every La Masia player would like to do, given the Spaniard featured in the LaLiga match against the side from Bilbao. Not only that but he who scored the third of Barça's goals.

Pure blaugrana passion and total commitment

This beautiful story began on 27 August 2023, when Fermín López made his competitive first team debut at the La Cerámica stadium. He had already played for the team in a Clásico in Dallas where he showed what he is capable of. He had no qualms about taking a shot with his least-favoured left foot to show how he feels about playing in blaugrana.

This step took passion and commitment by the Spaniard, as he moved through the youth teams after joining at U14 level. His journey has taken him to the top, with only the minor diversion for a loan spell at Linares where he shone brightly. He has continued and will continue to shine with Barça, given these 100 appearances look like just the beginning.

Character, intensity, attacking desire and non-stop defensive pressing are just some of the qualities the number 16 is known for. He always shows up, no matter the stage or the opponent, and always shows his passion for the FC Barcelona badge. And he has gradually won the hearts of FC Barcelona fans and the trust of his coaches.

Xavi Hernández gave him his debut away to Villarreal, plus significant playing time across 42 games. The other 58 games to reach the century have come under Hansi Flick. The coach is very happy with his performance on the pitch, and his fight, commitment, speed, dynamism, support and desire to score goals.

26 goals for the first team

The Spaniard definitely has the goal in his sights. His now characteristic celebration of a military-style salute is a familiar sight. He has scored 26 goals for the first team: 18 in LaLiga, six in the Champions League and two in the Copa del Rey. However, he has also contributed more to the attack, providing 13 assists.

Aged just 22 years old, he is a vital part of Hansi Flick's plans. A player for now and the future who still has a lot more chapters to write with FC Barcelona.
