Pau Cubarsí may be only 18, but he’s already something of a Clásico veteran – and a winning one at that. Barça came out on top in all four meetings with Real Madrid last season, five if you count the preseason clash. And on Sunday, there’s another one on the horizon.

Speaking at an event to announce Uber as an Official Partner of the Club, the centre back said the key to a game like Sunday’s at the Santiago Bernabéu is “having a winning mindset” and “focusing on ourselves.” Regardless of Real Madrid’s current form, he insists the team must stay true to Hansi Flick’s footballing philosophy and not worry about what the opposition does.

Even so, Cubarsí admitted that Mbappé and the rest of the Real Madrid side are a major threat. “All of their players are world class, but we have to trust in ourselves,” he said.

The defender also noted that Barça come into the game in good spirits after the 6–1 win over Olympiacos: “We needed a victory like that. We went out with the right mentality and managed to get the early goal,” he added.
