No time for celebrations – it’s back to LaLiga. Hansi Flick’s Barça welcome Getafe to the Estadi Johan Cruyff on Sunday night (9pm CEST), with the coach stressing the need for “fresh legs” after the midweek Champions League opener in Newcastle. The clash with the Madrid side comes barely three days later, with only a single training session back in Barcelona.
Pau Cubarsí latest
That session was missed by Pau Cubarsí as a precaution after a knock to his left knee, but Flick was quick to calm any concerns: “Pau Cubarsí will be an option tomorrow. We’ll see if that’s from the start or off the bench.”
Team over individuals
The German was clear that the collective comes above the individual. “We’ve only just started the season and we need everyone" he said. "Some players might not be happy with their current role, but this is about the team. When you play you have to show what you can do, but what matters is the success of the group.”
Flick also confirmed he’ll take his time with Gavi and Lamine Yamal, while Alejandro Balde “is improving and we hope to see him soon.” For now, the focus is firmly on Getafe. “We have to concentrate game by game. Our job is to give everything for this club. I’ll give everything for the team – and that’s what I expect from my players.”
Barça v Getafe: the next chance to prove it.
