One of the keys to winning a league title is showing superiority in every setting. While it’s important to be rock-solid at home, being just as tough on the road can be even more decisive. That’s exactly what happened in Barça’s latest La Liga triumph, in which they finished as the team with the most away points, and that's even with one more away fixture still to play.

 So far, of the 85 points Barça have accumulated, 43 came at home and 42 on the road. They have played 18 league matches away from home, picking up 42 of a possible 54 points, more than any other side. And they did so by a clear margin: Villarreal are second in this particular ranking with 36 away points, and Real Madrid third with 35. And Barça could yet raise that total to 45 away points on the final day. If they beat Athletic at San Mamés they would be in the odd situation of having won more points away than they did at home.

Best in Europe

In fact, Barça are not only Spain’s top travellers this season, but also the best away side across Europe’s big five leagues in 2024/25. They sit level on 42 away points with Atalanta, and a single point at San Mamés would see them take solo command of that ranking. Atalanta, by contrast, have no more away games left to play.

Third best at home

Although the margins are narrow, Barça end the season as the third-best home side in La Liga, with 43 points from 19 matches. Only Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid outdid them, each on 46 home points, though Real still have one more fixture at the Bernabéu.

This term Barça lost four times at home (to Las Palmas, Leganés, Atlético and Villarreal), making this just the second occasion they have won the league despite four home defeats. It also happened in the 1997/98 campaign. All that underlines just how impressive their away performances have been.
