The 14th of May has always been a red letter day for Barça fans, especially when it comes to the league. On this very date in the last 20 years the blaugranes have claimed the league title not once, not twice but three times - a feat that could be repeated in 2025.

Two years later

The last league title to be claimed on 14 May came two years ago, in 2023. In the 34th game of the season Barça travelled to Espanyol for a game at the RCDE Stadium where Xavi Hernández's team secured a 27th league with a 4-2 win thanks to goals from Lewandowski (2), Balde and Jules Kounde.

Another 14 May

Barça can win the league in 2025 on 14 May without even playing. If Real Madrid fail to beat Mallorca, kick off 9.30pm CEST, then the blaugranes would be champions for the fourth time in 20 years on the date. Should Real Madrid win, Hansi Flick's side will have another chance to claim the title away from home against Espanyol on 15 May at 9.30pm CEST.

Nine years since 15/16

On 14 May 2016 Luis Enrique's team claimed the league title on the final day of the campaign. A hat-trick from Luis Suárez against Granada in the Nuevo Los Cármenes stadium confirmed a second league title in as many years, pipping second placed Real Madrid by just a point.

Rijkaard's first

Back on 14 May 2005, Frank Rijkaard's Barça team wrapped up the league title with a 1-1 draw away at Levante. That point was enough for the league title, a 17th in the Club's history, with an 18th to come just a year later.

Finally, we can go back to the 1990s, 14 May 1994 to be precise to find another memorable title win on the date. Johan Cruyff's all conquering 'Dream Team' won 5-2 away at Sevilla to win La Liga after a famous penalty miss from Deportivo La Coruña's Miroslav Djukic meant the Galicians could only draw 0-0 with Valencia when a win would have seen them champions.
