A difficult day for the Barça futsal team, as the chance to decide their own fate and win the league on the final matchday of the regular season was lost with this 3-2 defeat to Peñíscola, who now assume that role.

Dyego put Barça ahead early, before Pablo Muñoz and Pani turned it around for the home side. Juanqui made it 3-1 very late in the second half despite Barça dominating, and Dyego's quick reply ultimately didn't prove enough.

High voltage first half

Both teams had an eye on leading the league and were quickly into the game, Barça striking first through a well-worked move, as Dyego volleyed in from outside the area (0-1, min 1).

Peñíscola then gradually started to impose themselves, finding a decisive Dídac in goal, who saved from Juanqui, before the bar thwarted Sancho's effort (min 8).

Dídac could do little about Pablo Muñoz's shot (1-1, min 13), but he proved crucial in preventing a further goal before the break, including a great save from a double penalty after the bluagranes' sixth foul (min 14).

No reward for control

Barça were better after the break, but Pani completed the comeback with a precise long shot (2-1, min 24). Tino Pérez's side kept going and Khalid, Adolfo, Pito and Antonio all had chances to make it 2-2, with home keeper Gus tested. A draw was worth its weight in gold and Barça had Peñíscola penned in, playing with a fly keeper to further increase chances of an equaliser.

However, it didn't bear fruit and with just over a minute to go, Juanqui extended the lead (3-1, min 39). Dyego managed to score on the next play (3-2, min 39), but there wasn't enough time left to find that elusive equaliser, despite Matheus' two efforts, and Barça will have to await the results of other scores on the final matchday, while completing their own commitments against Córdoba at the Palau Blaugrana (24 May 8.00pm CEST).
