Madrid 82-93 Barça: Champions in three!

Barça win away to Real Madrid and claim the Liga ACB title in just three games

The Liga ACB title is Barça's and they did it in style, claiming it in just three games in the final series! Today's 82-93 victory completed the job and the Barça basketball team can lift the 20th Liga title with pride.

First half parity

With a pressure cooker atmosphere in the Wizink Center, Barça came out mindful not to let Real Madrid get a foothold in the game. An early 0-4 score helped settle any nerves, but the first quarter ended finely poised at 21-20.

The second quarter was somewhat different albeit ending virtually level like the first. Barça scored 1-9, forcing a Real Madrid timeout, before both Causeur and Sergi Llull dragged their side back into the game, scoring nine and eight points respectively, half time score 41-38.

Through the gears to claim the title

Just like in the first, Barça came out strongly after the break. Three-pointers by Abrines, Mirotic and Laprovittola saw the away side set the pace and the Wizink crowd might have begun to think the series was close to its climax. However, Real Madrid are no push overs, Tavares and Yabusele driving through the middle to go into the fourth with little to choose between the sides (66-67).

However, Barça showed their steely side, Vesely and Jokubaitis stepping up for their piece of the action, only stopped again by a timeout by Chus Mateo with Barça +8 up and looking very likely to win. The all-whites tried as they might to come back but the blaugranas responded in the best possible way by extending their lead for a final score of 82-93.

All in all a superb end to the season by being crowned Liga champions for the 20th time!
