Barça Atlètic 3-2 CD Castellón: Winning start for Márquez

A goal right at the end clinches victory in the Mexican's first league fixture in charge

Barça Atlètic have started their league season in the best possible way. With three points. But it wasn't easy, and Castellón were only downed by a last-minute goal in a reral cracker of a match. Centre back Chadi was the late hero, while Estanis and Ilias Akhomach scored the others.

This was the first league fixture under new manager Rafa Márquez, who watched as he his side dominated the early play and Estanis capitalised with a fine solo move down the left.

Castellón failed to produce much danger of their own, but always looked worrying on the counter attack. And just before the break they scored not once but twice, with both goals coming from players with a blaugrana past, Dani Romera and Josep Calavera.

There were chances for both sides after the break before Ilias Akhomach swerved in a fine strike from the edge of the area to level the scores.

Both sides then pushed for the winner in a stupendously exciting finale. Right at the end, Chadi got on the end of a corner to deliver victory in the most dramatic of circumstances, and much to the delight of the Estadi Johan Cruyff.

Next up is Alcoyano on Sunday at 7.30pm CEST.
