The first time FC Barcelona triumphed in Europe
The Barça Women's team in the Swedish city of Gothenburg on Sunday wrote a new page in the history of the Club by adding a first ever Women's Champions League title to FC Barcelona's long list of honours. The Club now has won no less 42 European Cups via its various professional teams, a remarkable figure that can only grow.
Football: Wembley 1992
On 20 May 1992 at Wembley Stadium in London, a Barça dream finally came true. Before them were Serie A opponents Sampdoria on a day that FC Barcelona made history.
Johan Cruyff, the coach of the team at the time, let out the famous words "Go out and enjoy yourselves" to his players before the game which was decided in extra time when Ronald Koeman's free kick handed the blaugranes the first ever European Cup.
Basketball: Palau Sant Jordi 2003
The Barça basketball team dominated the early years of the century domestically and their first European success came in 2003. A team led by Dejan Bodiroga, Sarunas Jasikevicius and Juan Carlos Navarro beat Benetton Treviso at home in Barcelona in a packed Palau Sant Jordi. The team rounded off the season with a win in the ACB League and the Copa del Rey.
Handball: The Palau Blaugrana 1991
The Barça handball team, coached by Valero Rivera, won their first European Cup on 19 May 1991 against Serbian side Proleter with a 20-17 win in the Palau Blaugrana, turning around a two goal deficit from the first leg of the final.
A mixture of veterans such as Rico, Grau Sagalés and Serrano plus youngsters like Masip and Barrufet and the best player in the world at the time Vesselin Vujovic finally brought European glory home for Barça handball fans.
Futsal: Barris Nord 2012
Barça's futsal team had to wait to finally triumph in Europe. The blaugranes had a purple patch which included three league titles, three Spanish Cups and four Copa de Rey titles before claiming the UEFA Futsal Cup.
The historic occasion came in 2021 in Lleida in Catalonia and in the Final Four Barça beat Sporting Clube in the semi finals and all conquering Dynamo Moscow in the final. Goals from Wilde, Lin and Torras handed them a 3-1 win and their first ever European Cup.
Roller Hockey: Lisbon 1973
The first European Cup for FC Barcelona came via the roller hockey section. The team have won more European Cups than any other professional team at FC Barcelona with 22. The first came in Lisbon, Portugal.
The team coached by Josep Lorente came in the 1972/73 season. Over two legs FC Barcelona overcame Benfica, winning 5-3 at the Palau and then drawing 7-7 in the Portuguese capital.
U19A Football: Nyon 2014
The U19A side were victorious in the first edition of the UEFA Youth League in 2014. In the final in Switzerland they overcame Benfica 3-0 after an unbeaten run in the competition.
