Following the win over Getafe, the two Barça stars have now played together in 500 matches in 13 seasons
Gerard Piqué and Leo Messi appeared on the field together for the 500th time in their careers. The Spanish defender and the Argentine striker were both in the starting line up in the 5-2 win over Getafe to bring up the landmark with Messi only having played alongside Sergio Busquets on more occasions, 560.
The 500 matches have been 320 in the league, 104 in the Champions League, 56 in the Copa del Rey, 14 in the Spanish Super Cup, two in the UEFA Super Cup and four in the Club World Cup
The first against Racing
The first time Piqué and Messi played together was in 2008 in the second game of the 2008/09 league season. The game was against Racing Santander at Camp Nou with Piqué starting and Messi coming on just before the hour mark to replace Seydou Keita.
