Five players from FC Barcelona are among the candidates for FIFA’s The Best awards.

The Argentinian is among the eleven nominees for Best Player, alongside Thiago Alcantara (Liverpool), Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus), Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City), Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich), Sadio Mané (Liverpool), Kylian Mbappé (Paris Saint-Germain), Neymar (Paris Saint-Germain), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool).

The German is in the running for the Best Goalkeeper award, where he’ll be measured against Alisson Becker (Liverpool), Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid), Keylor Navas (Paris Saint-Germain), Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich) y Jan Oblak (Atlético Madrid).

Barça has two players on the short-list for the Best Women’s Player award, where they are competing against Lucy Bronze (Olympique Lyonnais), Delphine Cascarino (Olympique Lyonnais), Pernille Harder (Wolfsburg), Ji So-yun (Chelsea), Sam Kerr (Chelsea), Saki Kumagai (Olympique Lyonnais), Dzsenifer Marozsán (Olympique Lyonnais), Vivianne Miedema (Arsenal) and Wendie Renard (Olympique Lyonnais)

And the coach of the Barça’s women’s team is one of seven names on the short-list for the Best Coach award.

In addition, the goal scored for FC Barcelona by the Uruguayan (now of Atlético Madrid) against Mallorca on 7 December 2019 is one of the ones short-listed for the best goal of the year award.
