Goal against Madrid is his 11th, breaking a record ating back to the 1930s
Ansu Fati has done it again. Barely a week goes by without him becoming the ‘the youngest player ever to…’ in some category or other, and now he has set a new record for Liga goals scored before the age of 18.
His goal against Real Madrid means he has matched the 11 scored almost a century ago by Pablo Pombo Quintana of Racing Santander. And there is still time for Barça's teenage sensation to go one better, as he doesn’t turn 18 until the last day of the month – meaning he has the game with Alavés in which to break the record.
His goal at Balaídos against Celta made Ansu the third youngest player to reach double figures for goals, behind another Barça man Bojan (17 years, 8 months and 5 days) and the aforesaid Pombo (17 years, eight months and 12 days). Ansu was exactly 17 years and 11 months old when he scored his tenth league goal for FC Barcelona.
