Sergiño Dest: "I will do whatever is needed to help the team"

The new signing says at his official presentation as an FC Barcelona player that the move is "a dream come true"

Sergiño Dest was presented as an FC Barcelona player on Friday, and the young fullback spoke to the media at his unveiling. He told those in attendance that his arrival at Barça was "a dream come true," and that he "is looking forward to playing with my new teammates and winning trophies."

The decision to sign for Barça

"Barça have so much history and I've always wanted to play here. I followed my heart and I have made the right choice."

"It's a source of pride to be the first player from the USA at Barça. It's a dream come true and I'm looking forward to playing with my new teammates."

Looking forward to his debut

"If I could make my debut against Sevilla on Sunday, it would be great. I want to start playing as soon as possible."

Looking up to Dani Alves

"Dani Alves is someone to look up to. I've watched a lot of videos of him on YouTube. I've learned a lot from him. I still have to learn more about him, because here at Barça there are a lot of his former teammates, such as Messi."

A conviction of success

"I think that my best position is as a sweeper, and I hope to keep that spot. I want to be like Dani Alves, and I want to run up and down the wing. If I have to train more to be like him, then I will."

A desire to play with Messi

"It will be amazing to play alongside the best player in the world. I will do whatever is needed to help Messi and the entire team. It will be very exciting to get to know the best in the world."

Ronald Koeman

"It will be easier to connect with Koeman, because he's Dutch. Everybody has given me a warm welcome."

Sergi Roberto

"He is a very good player with great qualities. I remember his goal against PSG. I can learn from him and, in fact, I can learn from everybody. I hope that everybody gives me advice to reach my highest potential."
