Jennifer Hermoso is coming back to Barça. On Tuesday afternoon, in the company of vice-president Jordi Mestre and sports manager Markel Zubizarreta, the striker signed a contract binding her to the FC Barcelona women’s team for the next three seasons, until 30 June 2022. The 29-year-old is arriving from Atlético Madrid, where she spent the last season.
The Spanish international, a remarkably skilful player and a wonderful goalscorer, thus returns to the club where she spent three and half seasons from January 2014 to June 2017. The left-footer won 2 Ligas and 2 Copas de la Reina in her time here, scoring 89 goals 120 and finishing top scorer in the championship twice, with 24 goals in the 2015/16 season and 35 in 2016/17.
“I’m very happy” she said after putting pen to paper. “I overjoyed to be wearing the Barça shirt again”
“I am back where I grew as a footballer and a person. I’m fully pleased to be back, I think my return is going to be better than good”
Hermoso was also the top markswoman with her goals for Atlético last season, while she also enjoyed a successful cup-winning year at Paris Saint-Germain after leaving Barça.
Hermoso is the third addition to the 2019/20 squad after the signings of Norwegian Caroline Graham Hansen and the permanent acquisition of former loanee Asisat Oshoala of Nigeria.
