Three records in the Martino era

Gerardo Martino was only at FC Barcelona for one year, but he managed to achieve three records while he was here

Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino announced after the draw with Atlético Madrid that he and FC Barcelona have agreed for him to step down as first team manager. Despite not winning any of the three major trophies, in his only season at the club, the Argentinian has still made some impressive achievements.

Tata Martino contributed to Barça being league leaders for 59 consecutive weeks. No team has ever managed to stay in first place for so long, a run that includes the first 21 weeks of the season just ended and all 38 weeks of the season under Tito Vilanova.

Martino led Barça to its longest ever winning start in La Liga. The club won its first eight games. He also goes down as the FCB manager that survived the most official games undefeated since taking over, no fewer than 20 games (14 in the league, 4 in the Champions League and 2 in the Spanish Supercup.

He leaves the club after 59 official matches, with an overall record of 40 wins, 11 draws and 8 defeats. The team scored 148 goals and conceded 48, and in the league totalled 87 points and 100 goals.
