FC Barcelona win 12th Spanish Super Cup

After the victory against Sevilla, the Catalans have now won the trophy three times more than any another club

FC Barcelona have extended their record haul of Spanish Super Cup titles to twelve after beating Sevilla 3-0 in Wednesday's second leg, and 5-0 on aggregate.

The Blaugrana have featured in all but one of the last seven editions of the traditional curtain-raiser to the Spanish football year, which pits the winners of the previous season’s Liga against the champions of the Copa del Rey (or in this case runners-up, as Barça of course secured the domestic double in 2015/16).

As well as this year’s victory, the Catalans were also triumphant in the Spanish Super Cups of 1983/84, 1991/92, 1992/93, 1994/95, 1996/97, 2005/06, 2006/07, 2009/10, 2010/11, 2011/12, 2013/14 and 2016/17.

Second in the all-time list is Real Madrid with nine. They’re followed a long way behind by Deportivo la Coruña, Athletic Bilbao and Atlético Madrid, who have won the trophy twice ach.

Valencia, Mallorca, Real Sociedad, Zaragoza and Sevilla are the other clubs that have won the trophy since it was first contested in 1982.
