20. Aleix

Aleix Gómez joined the youth ranks at FC Barcelona in 2009/10 when he arrived from OAR Gràcia de Sabadell. Since coming to the Club, Gómez has developed into a quick player with excellent finishing skills. He is now one of the best right wings in the world.

He made his debut in the Asobal League for the first team on 1 October 2014 in a match against Ciudad Encantada in the Palau Blaugrana in which he managed to find the net. Little by little the winger began to gain more minutes in a team full of superstars. 

In the 2017/18 season was when he first made a real impact, scoring 66 goals in 27 matches with the team becoming more reliant on his attacking skills. After six seasons at the Club, Aleix Gómez claimed his first of three Champions League titles in 2021, completing the set of trophies with Barça and recording his place in the team's history as the team went on to defend their title in 2022. 

Despite losing out to Magdeburg in the 2022/2023 semi-finals, Gómez broke the Champions League goalscoring record of the time in that tie, surpassing Kiril Lazarov and Mikkel Hansen's total of 68. 

Since then another Champions League title has come his way as his goalscoring has continued to be vital along with his defensive qualities. 

An international at youth level for Spain, Gómez was part of the World Championship winning junior squad in the summer of 2017. In the same tournament he was also named in the ideal seven as best right winger. In 2020 he was crowned European Champion with the senior Spanish national side. 

TECHNICAL PROFILE

Aleix Gómez is a quick winger and a good finisher and has come through the youth ranks at the Club before finding himself a place in Xavi Pascual’s first team squad. His pace is of vital importance in rapid transitions from defence into attack.
