A powerful defender who is dominant in the air with good passing, anticipation and solid defending

Born on 7 October 2006, Renee van Asten's first steps in football were with CSW Wilnis. In 2022, she joined the Ajax youth system at the U16 level. While with the Amsterdam club, Van Asten progressed up to the U19s, with whom she won the KNVB Youth Cup, scoring the winning goal in the final against FC Eindhoven.

In May 2025, she was included in the Ajax first team squad and went on to make her competitive debut on 6 September against ADO Den Haag. Her first goal came on 16 October in the qualifying phase for the UEFA Women's Champions League in a match against Grasshopper Club Zurich. She went on to establish herself as a starter and was awarded the Johan Cruyff Talent of the Year award for the 2025/26 season. In July 2026 she officially signed for FC Barcelona.

On the international stage, she played at youth level for The Netherlands before getting a call up for the national side on April 2026, going on to score in her first start for the national team.
