We now know the route to Oslo 2026. FC Barcelona were able to enjoy the draw for the knockout stages of the Women's Champions League in Nyon today having secured first place in the league phase after the win away to Paris FC.
The pathway to the quarterfinal opponent was drawn first, and it will be either Paris FC or Real Madrid. As such, there might be a Clásico in the next round of Europe's premier club competition for the blaugranes. Whichever the opponent, FC Barcelona have already beaten them this 2025/26 season.
Quarterfinal Clásico?
So, FC Barcelona may meet Real Madrid in the quarterfinals and that will mean a European Clásico. However, there is the small matter of the play-off between Paris FC and Real Madrid first to see who will get the quarterfinal spot and face Barça. The team have already defeated the sides from Paris and Madrid this season, the aforementioned 0-2 in the WCL league phase final game in Paris after goals by Vicky and Graham and the resounding 4-0 Clásico win on Montjuïc respectively.
Job done in the league phase, FC Barcelona will have more time to prepare for the matches, and the return leg is in Barcelona, a reward for finishing the league phase in first place. The first leg will be played on 24 or 25 March, with the return leg on 1 or 2 April.
All routes to the final drawn
The draw also saw UEFA decide all the knockout phase routes. A quarterfinal win would see FC Barcelona face one of Atlético Madrid, Manchester United and Bayern Munich in the semifinals. The former two will play for the chance to face Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals. The semifinals will take place on 25 and 26 April and 2 and 3 May, with Barça playing the return leg at home having finished in first place in the league phase.
FC Barcelona will be fully focused on getting through the quarterfinals and semifinals to reach the final in Oslo at the Ullevaal Stadium on 23 May. The blaugranes will be the home side should they get there, but there is still a long way to go in this edition of the Women's Champions League, and it begins with the quarterfinal against Paris FC or Real Madrid.
