Oriol Romeu Vidal (24 September 1991) started out in the Espanyol youth system before moving to La Masía at Barça in 2004. He received his footballing education at the Club, going through the different age groups until he established himself in Barça Atlètic, coached at the time by Luis Enrique. He also played two competitive games for the Barça first team under Pep Guardiola during the 2010/11 season.
The following season Oriol Romeu signed for Chelsea who went on to beat Bayern Munich to win the Champions League during his first season at the English club.
Two years later, Romeu left on loan to Valencia and Stuttgart, where he gained valuable experience and match time in two of the world's best leagues. He returned to England in 2015, joining Southampton, where he became an important player and one of the most prominent holding midfielders in the Premier League. His total of 256 games for the club took him to 11th for most competitive appearances by a player for the Saints.
The Catalan left Southampton seven years later to continue his career at Girona. He soon showed his fortitude and talent, playing 3,042 minutes and was the most used player by coach Míchel. Romeu slotted into Girona perfectly, playing a key role during a great season, as the Catalans finished tenth on their return to the Primera División.
After this superb season, Oriol Romeu returned to Barça on 19 July 2023 to bolster the squad for the 23/24 season.
