After defeat last time out in the Copa del Rey against Atlético Madrid, Barça are set to visit Girona with the aim of getting back on track, with full focus on LaLiga. Hansi Flick's side have a demanding derby ahead of them at a difficult place to go, but there are some encouraging stats, some let's take a look at five facts you should know ahead of Girona v Barça.
Three-in-a-row
Barça have won the last three games against Girona, meaning the recent clashes have been favourable for blaugrana interests. What's more, the blaugranes have run out winners on four of their last five visits to the Montilivi stadium in LaLiga, a record that provides encouragement for the upcoming fixture.
New faces
Girona were active in the winter window, adding notable players such as Claudio Echeverri, Fran Beltrán and Marc-André ter Stegen. All the same, the injury to the German stopper meant Girona had to also bring in Rubén Blanco. When it comes to the outgoings, the red-and-whites can no longer count on the services of Dominik Livaković, Jhon Solís and Yáser Asprilla.
The curse of the woodwork
Barça are leading the way on one stat that is both curious and revealing. After 23 gameweeks of the 2025/26 LaLiga season, blaugranes have hit the woodwork 23 times, equalling the highest number at this stage of the season since at least the 2003/04 season. It's five more than any other team across the five major European leagues this season (Manchester United have hit the woodwork 18 times), showing the attacking power of the blaugranes despite the shooting being slightly off target.
The most recent game featured goal number 200 under Flick
The most recent game against Girona included a very special stat – goal number 200 for Barça under Hansi Flick. It was Pedri's strike after 13 minutes that will remain a reference point in blaugrana recent history. With 201 goals in 71 games, Flick became the third fastest coach all-time to reach 200 goals with Barça.
Fourth derby on a Monday
Out of the 11 competitive derbies that have been played to date, Girona v Barça has been played three times on a Monday. So far, Girona are yet to lose any of them – two wins and one draw. The blaugranes will definitely be wanting to put an end to that record in this latest instalment of the Catalan derby.
