Xavi: 'Our errors cost us two points'

FC Barcelona coach feels his team should be returning from the Balearic Islands with more than a point

Xavi Hernández insists that one point is "insufficient" for his team after a hard-fought 2-2 draw with Mallorca on Tuesday night. He felt that two sloppy mistakes had cost them two points and that "we need to be self-critical and get back to work ahead of Friday's game."

Key mistakes

"We gifted too much" he continued. "We made uncharacteristic mistakes ... We did have chances but it was a tough struggle back into the game. We created enough chances that would have normally won it for us, but two mistakes of our own cost us the win."

"Now all we can do is get straight back to work because we have another game against Sevilla on Friday."

Young guns

"Sending on Lamine and Fermín created solutions. We tried everything but this time it wasn't to be ... Lamine Yamal is still very young and we need to look after him. He played so well after he came on, he really made a big difference. He's already a very mature player but we don't want to rush things."

"And Fermín is another quality footballer. He scores goals and always tries to offer the best he has. His goal just earned us a point, which all goes to show the kind of things he can do for us."
