The Polish striker joins an illustrious list of culers who have worn the famous shirt

On Friday all eyes were on Robert Lewandowski, FC Barcelona's new number 9. During his well attended presentation at Camp Nou, the Polish striker donned his new shirt, a jersey that has always been synonymous with goals. 

Barça's new striker is himself synonymous with goals having been the European Golden Shoe winner for the last two season wearing the number 9 shirt at Bayern Munich. In total his eight seasons with Bayern, his three with Borussia Dortmund and his campaign with Znicz Pruszkow in 2007/08, Lewandowski wore the famous number that brings with it the expectation of goals. 

Another name to add to the list 

With Lewandowski taking over from Memphis in the FC Barcelona number 9 shirt, the Pole adds his name of Barça players who have worn the number. Some of the top players to have come before him in recent years include illustrious names such as Luis Súarez, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Samuel Eto'o, Patrick Kluivert and Ronaldo. 

Further back into Barça history, the biggest legend of them all, Johan Cruyff, was another famous blaugrana number 9. The Dutchman followed in the footsteps of legendary strikers as as Josep Escolà, Josep Samitier and César Rodríguez. Now, it is Robert Lewandowski's turn to pick up the mantle.
