We take a look at some stats and facts about Barça's new centre back

Eric Garcia returns to FC Barcelona after a spell with Manchester City where the young centre back continued his apprenticeship. Now, back with his childhood club, what do we know about Eric Garcia? 

- Eric Garcia joined the Barça Academy in 2008. The name of his team at the Academy before he joined the La Masia teams for the 2009/10 season was 'Dani Alves'. 

- Wearing the number 3 shirt, Garcia captained all the sides in the youth set up in which he played. 


- In various interviews, Eric Garcia has admitted that when he was in the Barça youth teams his role models were Javier Mascherano and Carles Puyol. 

- He is really good friends with Ansu Fati. Both players were in the same team for five seasons even though the striker is younger, he played in a higher age group. Now they will be back to fulfil their dream of playing together in the Barça first team. 


- Eric also played alongside Barça B's Arnau Tenas and Sergi Rosanas during his time at La Masia.  

- He made his debut for the Manchester City first team just shy of his 18th birthday on 18 December 2018 against Leicester City in the Carabao Cup. 

- At the age of 16 Eric Garcia joined the Manchester City U19 squad and the Premier League club reached the Final Four of the UEFA Youth League where they met Barça in the semi-finals. The blaugranes came out on top 5-4 despite Garcia's presence in the City starting XI. 


- At the age of 20 he has already won three league cups, a Community Shield, a Premier League and the European U17 and U19 Championships with Spain. 


- He is the first ever player from the Barça Academy to be selected by the Spanish national team where he teamed up with his old team mate, Ansu Fati. 


- He become the 23rd Barça player with the surname 'Garcia'. Despite the fact that it is one of the most common names in Spain, Barça have not had a Garcia since Sergio and Luis in the 2003/04 season.
