Haruna Babangida joined Barça’s U16 squad in the summer of 1997. His swift adaptation and talent earned him a debut with Barça B the following year. He spent three seasons with the reserves, occasionally turning out in first-team friendlies and travelling on overseas pre-season tours. In his final campaign at the club, 2002-03, he played on loan for Terrassa. Afterwards he embarked on a new phase of his career, competing in Ukraine, Greece, Cyprus, Russia, Germany, the Netherlands and, ultimately, Austria, where he hung up his boots at 35.
