The Barça Academy has reason to celebrate, as it will return to Egypt after a four-year absence. The club had an academy in the country from the 2006/07 season until June 2022. The camps to be held in October and November 2026 will therefore mark a return to a country where Barça is one of the most widely followed teams among football fans.
The club’s base in Cairo was the first international academy Barça opened in its history, and these two camps will be the first step towards re-establishing a presence in a strategic territory such as Egypt, where football is followed with great passion.
Strategic agreement
Benny Megreli, director of the Barça Academy, and Sergi Barjuan, sporting director of the Barça Academy, sealed the agreement at the club’s offices together with Mr Hassan Emara, representative of the local partner, for the camps to be held in Egypt over the coming months of October and November.
The Barça Academy project
The Barça Academy is FC Barcelona’s own football school model for boys and girls, whose main objective is the all-round development of its students. This special kind of football school, which has been exported internationally, aims to expand the Barça brand and convey the club’s working philosophy and values around the world.
The schools follow their own unique model, based on the Barça methodology from the youth categories through to the first team, with a creative, attacking style of play and an essential focus on transmitting values such as respect, humility, effort, ambition and teamwork, backed up by a proven track record of success.
