FC Barcelona announces that the match corresponding to Matchday 9 of LaLiga, against Girona FC, which will be played on Saturday, October 18 at 4:15 p.m., will take place at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

The Club continues to work on obtaining the necessary administrative permits for the opening of the Spotify Camp Nou and remains in constant contact with Barcelona City Council in order to carry out the required inspections over the coming days.

In this context, although the Club expects to receive the first occupancy license for phase 1A (Main Stand and Goal) soon —which would allow for a capacity of up to 27,000 spectators—, FC Barcelona will aim to return to the Spotify Camp Nou once the corresponding license for phase 1B (Main Stand, Goal, and Lateral) has also been obtained, increasing the stadium’s capacity to 45,000 spectators.

This decision is based on three main reasons:

  • The delay in obtaining the phase 1A license has placed its approval very close in time to that of phase 1B.
  • The capacity of the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium —refurbished by the Club— allows for higher revenue, offsetting that of the matches previously played at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.
  • Allowing for a few more days, if necessary, to carry out all the necessary operational tests.

Finally, the Club would like to inform all members that, starting with this match, access management will be carried out through a pass system, which will be implemented and maintained until the end of the season. In the coming days, the Club will provide full details of the pass model.

FC Barcelona would like to thank its members and fans for their understanding and support during such a complex and exciting process as the return to the new Spotify Camp Nou.
