The spiritual home for Barça fans all over the world is reopening its doors. The return to Spotify Camp Nou is a reality and the fans are ready to fill the stadium once more in search of more magical memories. All throughout its history the ground has been the scene of some important 'firsts' for FC Barcelona and here we take a look at just a few of them.
First day open to the public
On 24 September 1957, coinciding with the local festival of la Mercè, patron saint of the city of Barcelona, the stadium was opened. Named at the time 'Estadio del FC Barcelona', it was the largest in Europe with room for more than 99,000 fans.
First game
On the same day the first ever game took place at Spotify Camp Nou against a Warsaw XI from Poland. Barça won 4-2 to kick off the stadium's history with a victory.
First goal for and against
In that game Paraguayan striker Eulogio Martínez scored the first ever goal for Barça in the 10th minute of the game. Just a minute later the team conceded their first ever when Lucjan Brychczy equalised for the visitors.
First starting XI
That day the team was made up by Ramallets, Olivella, Brugué, Segarra, Gràcia, Gensana, Basora, Kubala, Eulogio Martínez, Tejada and Manchón. Historic names for a historic occasion.
First crowd figures
The day also saw one of the biggest crowds ever recorded at the stadium: 99,059 fans packed in for the first ever game at Spotify Camp Nou.
First big win
The first big win for the team came the following month in October 1957. Villaverde scored the first ever goal for Barça at the stadium in official competition with the blaugranes romping to a 6-1 win over Real Jaén in La Liga.
First derby
The first Barcelona derby came on 17 November 1957. Week 10 of the league campaign saw Espanyol's first visit to the stadium, Barça winning 3-1 thanks to goals from Evaristo, Tejada and Kubala.
The first Clásico
The first ever Barça v Real Madrid fixture at Spotify Camp Nou came in the week 20 of the 1957/58 season. On 2 February 1958 the visitors took victory to kick off the beginning of the great rivalry at the blaugranes' home.
First mosaic
The first great mosaic from the fans came in a Clásico in 1992, the Club collaborating with the culers as 17,000 fans created a visual feast in blaugrana and the colours of the 'senyera' the Catalan flag, to create the word 'Barça'.
The first FC Barcelona women's game
On 25 December 1970, a women's team with the name Barcelona City XI, coached by legendary blaugrana keeper Antoni Ramallets, face Deportiva Centelles at the stadium. The game ended goalless and was a warm up for a game for the men's team against Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia. The game has done as a historical moment for women's football even though the team were not able to wear the Barça kit or use the name as officially it was not yet part of the club.
First concert
On 5 September 1983, the first ever concert took place when Spanish singer Julio Iglesias attracted a crowd of over 100,000 to the stadium.
