Non-stop election coverage on Barça Studios

FC Barcelona goes to the polls on Sunday and the club's media will be broadcasting developments throughout the day

Barça Studios will be providing more than 15 hours of coverage of everything happening on the day of the FC Barcelona Presidential Elections. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, and with polling stations in six different locations, the club’s media will be responsible not just for its own images but also for all those that will broadcast on other media.

A crew of about 50 people plus about 20 cameras will be working non-stop from 8.55am CET on Sunday morning through to the announcement of the winner, and not just in Barcelona but also in Girona, Tarragona, Lleida, Andorra and Tortosa. Catalan broadcaster TV3 is collaborating with some of the work, for instance by supplying a drone to bring aerial images and by offering support from the provincial capitals.

Extensive coverage

The main area of interest will naturally be the polling stations at the Camp Nou and Palau Blaugrana, including the table where the three candidates themselves will be casting their votes and speaking to the press. But there will also be three mobile units covering events happening elsewhere and collecting opinions from the members, including some of the club’s most famous fans.

The Auditori 1899 is being used as a media centre, and will be used to centralise all information and data as it comes in.

One of the new features for these elections is that the count can be watched live from 9.00pm CET, meaning fans will be able to see the results in real-time in the build-up to the announcement of the winning candidacy.

As health restrictions mean external media will not be able to enter most of the key zones, the signal will be going out non-stop all day, and these will be the only images that media will be able to use in their own coverage of the event.

How to watch

Naturally, all of this can be watched live on Barça TV (on DTT and various Spanish digital platforms), and will also be streamed on Barça TV + and here on the club website. These broadcasts will include the club’s own material, including expert analysis and comments from special guests, all coming live from the Barça Studios in Sant Just Desvern as well as two sets at the Auditori 1899 and Barça Store at the Camp Nou.
