Signed from Valladolid when he was just 19 years of age, Zaldúa was a fixture in the side for almost a decade except for the season in the mid-1960s when he was on loan at Osasuna. Barça top scorer in five seasons, he was a natural striker who was lethal with his head; a constant threat in the opponent's box.
His commitment and courage enamoured him to the fans and he became captain in 1965, leading to the team to victory in the Copa del Rey in 1968 in the famous 'bottles final' when Barça beat Real Madrid 1-0 in the Bernabéu.
The club paid tribute to him in June 1971 and he later played for Sabadell ahead of retirement in 1975.
